Production Scientist (Internal Only)

As a business, we are currently progressing through an exciting period of growth and as part of our exciting expansion plans, we currently have an opportunity to hire a Production Scientist for our BBI Solutions division. The role will be based at Sittingbourne facility.

BBI Solutions has served the global diagnostics industry for over 50 years, as a leading developer and manufacturer of raw materials and finished test platforms for the in-vitro diagnostics market.

The Role

As a Production Scientist, you will be responsible for the routine manufacture of small- and large-scale quantities of proteins. You will be required to work within ISO:13485 standards and be competent at operating standard laboratory equipment.

Key responsibilities will include but not be limited to;

  • Work as part of the team supporting the manufacture and purification of proteins.
  • Carry out laboratory and administrative based tasks including maintenance and cleaning to provide a safe and efficient environment to work
  • Ensure completion of tasks to schedule and to required standard
  • Ensure batch record completion is up to date and accurate
  • Effectively prepare and operate columns during purification of proteins
  • Support production team members where necessary
  • Assisting in autoclaving of waste where necessary
  • Readiness of Buffers and reagents used within production department
  • Calibration of key laboratory equipment, ready for use 
  • Operate key laboratory equipment, including centrifuges, incubators, purification equipment
  • Comply with BBI’s quality system requirements
  • Complete change requests for all SOPs, PSBRs, EOPs, SMPs and relevant documents where necessary
  • Provide support throughout production for raising Planned Deviations, NCs and CAPAs
  • Be responsible for monitoring CAPA progress throughout production
  • Service, calibration and maintenance checks of laboratory equipment
  • Ensure completion of daily cleaning checks 
  • Responsible for maintaining individual training record
  • Adherence to all SOPs, PSBRs, EOPs, SMPs and relevant documents
  • Adherence to Health and Safety regulations


As a Production Scientist, you will need A-Levels in a mainstream Science subject and a  Biological / Science related degree is preffered. and have experience of working within ISO:13485 standards. The successful candidate will also need prior laboratory experience.
